How to Control Excess Nutrients

Excess nutrients floating in the water column can make the water cloudy. These nutrients are often caused by decaying material and act as providers to future plant and algae growth. Controlling the excess nutrients in the water will clear the water and can help to prevent some of the future growth.

Manual/ Mechanical Control:

Filtering an entire pond can be effective but may not be feasible.

Biological Control:

Beneficial bacteria, enzymes, and trace minerals in our SparKlear nutrient reducer will eat the excess nutrients in the water column to help promote the overall health of the pond. SparKlear comes in liquid to dilute and spray or pellets to broadcast into the pond.

PhosControl granules chemically bond with the free phosphorus in the pond, making that phosphorus unavailable to future algae growth.
