What is aquatic 2, 4-D used for?

2, 4-D is a selective herbicide used to treat weeds such as watermilfoil, coontail, and water lilies.

What is the active ingredient?

The active ingredient is 2, 4-D.

How do you apply 2, 4-D aquatic herbicide?

Mix liquid 2, 4-D with water in a sprayer and spray over where the weeds are; broadcast Navigate granules directly where the weeds are. 2, 4-D is best applied to larger treatment areas (greater than 1/4 acre).

Is granular or liquid better?

Both 2, 4-D products will kill the weeds listed on the labels. Each container (1 gallon liquid or 50 lbs. granules) will treat about a half acre. You may have an application method preference or take cost into consideration.

How does 2, 4-D compare to Aquathol K/ Super K?

2, 4-D and Aquathol don’t have temperature restrictions. They have different active ingredients. 2, 4-D is a selective herbicide and Aquathol K is a broad spectrum herbicide. This means that 2, 4-D kills fewer plants than Aquathol K or other broad spectrum herbicides. Target species are listed on the labels of each product.

Is 2, 4-D safe for fish and wildlife?

Both forms of 2, 4-D are EPA approved and considered generally safe for fish and wildlife. Do not use 2, 4-D treated water for livestock watering for some time after treatment (see label). Oxygen depletion can be a risk to fish; treat less than 50% of the water body with 2, 4-D if target plants are dense.

Will 2, 4-D kill water lilies?

2, 4-D will kill water lilies if applied correctly.

When should I apply 2, 4-D?

Apply 2, 4-D when weeds are actively growing. 2, 4-D is best applied when plants are fully mature as they will get more contact exposure to the herbicide.

When will I see results after applying 2, 4-D?

You will see full results in 17-21 days. You will the get the best results with 2, 4-D if treating larger treatment areas (greater than 1/4 acre).
